The Shark Tank Venture Showcase

10 Shark Tank.jpg

On Tuesday, 19th of November, our Year 10 Shark Tank students had the opportunity to participate in the Shark Tank eSchool Venture Showcase coordinated by the University of Adelaide. Students have been working all semester on creating a viable business solution to a problem they have identified in the wider community.

All five MBHS groups were required to present their 3 minute pitch to judges at the showcase and each group had a stall where attendees could visit and hear about their ideas. The ‘Perspectives’ group created a virtual reality experience to help users develop empathy in order to reduce problems such as bullying and racism in schools. The ‘Keeping Connected’ group created a prototype for a watch and app to help families connect with elderly relatives or people with a disability living at home on their own.

The ‘Homel’ group wanted to provide a service to support people who are homeless in gaining employment. The ‘Social.ly’ group developed the idea of a relationship building service to help young people with mental health issues get the support they need. The final team, ‘A Change for Tomorrow’, developed a birthing kit and brochure to support women in third world countries. There were over 140 teams at the Venture Showcase and our students represented Murray Bridge High School brilliantly. Well done to all our wonderful participants this semester!
