SAASTA Shield

On Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 November, Murray Bridge High School SAASTA students travelled to Adelaide to participate in the SAASTA Shield.
This is an annual event that sees students across the state join together in a two-day tournament, competing for the SAASTA Shield. After arriving in Adelaide on the Tuesday night (to avoid traveling in the 43-degree heat on Wednesday), students settled into their accommodation and were treated to dinner on the beach provided by the West Beach Surf Club.

Wednesday started with some free time in the morning and then off to the end of year Awards Ceremony where we celebrated the achievements of SAASTA students across the state. Then it was off to Priceline Stadium to compete in the Netball tournament. Our students had a competitive day finishing third overall after a nailing biting semi-final that went into overtime! It was then time for dinner and bed before a big second day of competition.

Day 2 was “Survivor” style team activities day where students were challenged with a range of tasks that focused on their team work and communication skills. Our students were very competitive and showed how strong their teamwork and collaboration skills can be as they charged through multiple challenges and came second overall for Day 2.

By the end of the day, our students had done their very best, but with the culmination of their schoolwork and the two days of tournaments, the Murray Bridge High School SAASTA Academy finished third overall for the SAASTA Shield.
