Year 7 & 8 - Transition to High School 2022

Each year Murray Bridge High School conducts a comprehensive Transition Program, which allows prospective students and their parents/caregivers to:

  • Gain information about Murray Bridge High School
  • View the Curriculum offerings
  • Understand our Policies / Procedures / Expectations
  • See what Extra Curricular Activities we offer
  • Gain an insight into High School life
  • ​​Make a smooth and supported transition into the Murray Bridge High School community

Due to the unknown restrictions related to Covid 19, the MBHS Transition program may experience changes in the calendar. If this occurs the school will keep all families, who have expressed their interest in enrolment, informed.

Enrolments

Expressions of interest regarding enrolments for the 2022 school year are now open. 

Department for Education Primary School enrolments

Parents/caregivers of students from the Department for Education Primary Schools will receive an online registration link via email which is unique to your child. This normally occurs mid term two. 

Enrolment packs will be distributed to Department for Education Primary School families in August.

Non-Government Primary School enrolments

Parents/caregivers of students from Non-Government Primary Schools are asked to complete an expression of interest form (link below), allowing us to keep in contact with families throughout the transition process. MBHS will be in contact with families once enrolment packs are ready to be distributed.

Primary School Visits

During Term 2 key personnel visited Primary Schools within the Murraylands partnership to meet families and answer questions regarding the transition program.

Transition Family Information Evenings - summary

Family Conferences

At the end of term 3 enrolling families will have the opportunity to meet with Middle School Leaders via a 1 on 1 catch up to discuss your child’s needs so we can best support them with their transition to Murray Bridge High School. 

Principal Tours

We have Principal Tours available in June, July and August, please book via the following link as places are limited.

7 & 8 Transition Information Nights - Term 4

Due to the inclusion of Year 7s in High Schools across South Australia in 2022, the Murray Bridge High School Transition Evening will take place on two separate dates to allow for the increase in families involved. The 7 and 8 transition nights will involve key information for families and students transitioning in 2022.

Key information:

  • MBHS Neighbourhoods and class groups
  • Meet the 2022 teachers
  • Chromebook
  • Uniform
  • Information from key SSO staff (Front Office, Student Services, Finance) 

For Students

Transition Program for students

The extensive transition program involves a number of stages to allow MBHS to provide every student with a smooth and seamless transition to high school. The program includes the following:

  • Aboriginal Education transition visits
  • Extra transition visits for students requiring extra support
  • Year 8 Transition Visit (Tuesday 30th November)
  • Year 7 Transition Visit (Thursday 2nd December)
  • Day 1, 2022 - Year 7s, 8s and 12s only

Due to year 7s and 8s both transitioning in 2022, each year level will have their own separate day to experience school at MBHS. On transition day, students:

  • Meet fellow members of their home class/core class for 2022
  • Meet their home class/core class teachers for 2022 
  • Take part in a range of lessons in different learning areas
