Year 7 - Transition to High School 2024

Each year Murray Bridge High School conducts a comprehensive Transition Program, which allows prospective students and their parents/caregivers to:

  • Gain information about Murray Bridge High School
  • View the Curriculum offerings
  • Understand our Policies / Procedures / Expectations
  • See what Extra Curricular Activities we offer
  • Gain an insight into High School life
  • ​​Make a smooth and supported transition into the Murray Bridge High School community

Enrolments

Expressions of interest regarding enrolments for the 2024 school year are now open. 

Department for Education Primary School enrolments

Parents/caregivers of students from the Department for Education Primary Schools will receive an online registration link via email which is unique to your child. This normally occurs mid term two. 

Enrolment packs will be distributed to Department for Education Primary School families in August.

Non-Government Primary School enrolments

Parents/caregivers of students from Non-Government Primary Schools are asked to complete an expression of interest form (link below), allowing us to keep in contact with families throughout the transition process. MBHS will be in contact with families once enrolment packs are ready to be distributed.

Please note the MBHS Transition program may experience changes in the calendar due to unforeseen circumstances throughout the year. If this occurs the school will keep all families, who have expressed their interest in enrolment, informed.

For Families and Students 

Introduction to High School & Tour Evening

At the beginning of Term 2 families and students are invited to attend an Introduction to Transition & Tour Evening at the Murray Bridge High School in the new Sturt Building to meet key staff and answer questions regarding the transition program. This is in place of the Primary School Visits scheduled in previous years.

Families will also have the opportunity to take a tour of MBHS on the night. We are really looking forward to showcasing our school to you and your family and highlighting the many wonderful learning opportunities and facilities we offer. This involves:

  • Tour of the school incorporating presentations with key information from Learning Area (HPE, Global, STEM, Arts, VET & DTE), and
  • Introductions to key personnel and teams
    • Principal/Deputy Principal
    • Middle School Assistant Principal
    • Middle School Neighbourhood Leaders

Dates for transition evenings (repeated) are as follows:

Wednesday 10th May @ 5:00pm
Monday 15th May @ 5:30pm

 

Meet the Leaders (Morning and Afternoon teas) (optional)

This year we see the introduction of two 'Meet the Leaders' opportunities at the end of Term 2. These sessions provide families with the opportunity to meet the Middle School Leadership team and engage in a short presentation from our Principal Ruth Mussger.

Afternoon Tea: Wednesday 21st June @ 4:00pm
Morning Tea: Monday 26th June @ 9:30am

 

Family Conferences

At the end of term 3, in week 9 & 10 enrolling families will have the opportunity to meet with Middle School Leaders via a 1 on 1 catch up to discuss your child's needs so we can best support them with their transition to Murray Bridge High School.

Transition Information Evening and Uniform Fit Night - To Be Advised

The Murray Bridge High School Transition Evening and Uniform Fit Night will be taking place on Tuesday 14th November to allow families to receive key information regarding transition and also organise uniforms for 2024, along with a free sausage sizzle before and after the information session.

The transition evening will involve key information for families and students transitioning in 2024.

For Students 

Transition Program for Students

The extensive transition program involves a number of stages to allow MBHS to provide every student with a smooth and seamless transition to high school. The program includes the following:

  • Aboriginal Education transition visits
  • Extra transition visits for students requiring extra support
  • Year 7 Transition Visit (Tuesday 5th December)
  • Day 1, 2024 - Year 7, 11 and 12 only

On transition day, students:

  • Meet fellow members of their home class/core class for 2024
  • Meet their home class/core class teachers for 2024
  • Take part in a range of lessons in different learning areas
