Inclusive Education Centre

Murray Bridge High School’s Inclusive Education Centre provides an ICT-rich embedded learning environment encompassing the modified SACE and the Australian Curriculum for students with intellectual disabilities and autism. Students participate in a range of community and global partnerships including:

  • Sewing blankets and pouch liners for injured animals at Minto Farm
  • Sewing splints
  • Quilted soft books and pillowcases for the Adelaide Craniofacial Unit
  • Embroider blankets for the homeless
  • Assemble birthing kits for Zonta International
  • Sponsorship of an orphanage in Kenya

Students have the opportunity to work with a range of robots including:

  • Zoomorphic robots
  • Socially assistive robots (NAO and Pepper)
  • JD robots
  • Codey Rocky
  • Lego Mindstorms
  • Class VR and zSpace (mixed augmented and virtual reality)

The IEC is undertaking collaborative research with the CSIRO and the University of South Australia  evaluating the benefits of socially assistive robots including the design of an app focussing on strategies to manage bullying, and a ChatBot focusing on emotion regulation.
