Clontarf Academy visits MBHS

On Tuesday 7 June we had visitors from 3 Clontarf Academies - Paralowie, Ocean View and Salisbury High Schools. They challenged our Year 7, 8 and 9 Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) students to a friendly football match.

"The Clontarf Foundation exists to improve the education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem and employment prospects of young ATSI men and by doing so equips them to participate more meaningfully in society". The foundation partners with schools and communities to create "Clontarf Academies" within the school grounds and education programme.

Fulltime, locally based Clontarf staff mentor and counsel students on a range of behavioural and lifestyle issues while the school caters for their education needs. Academy activities are planned within the focus of education, leadership, employment, wellbeing, life skills and sport.

Students must continue to work at school and embrace the objectives of the foundation in order to remain in the programme.

The boys had a fantastic afternoon and shared a BBQ lunch together.
