Ngarrindjeri Elders open the newly designed fire pit

On Friday 24th of September, Murray Bridge High School welcomed the local Ngarrindjeri Elders Group for the official lighting of the Fire Pit. Our Year 9 Aboriginal Men at Metal class have spent the year designing and building an original, handmade fire pit. The class were inspired by their connection to Ngarrindjeri culture as well as the school where the fire pit will be used. Together, the Elders, the students, staff and SAASTA class celebrated the first lighting of the fire pit, a moment to connect our school with our culture.

A big thank you to Greg Cater, David Berresford, Jeff Mckeown and their Year 9 Men at Metal class for all their work with the fire pit. Also to Penny Conway and the school for putting together a wonderful morning tea and the Elder group for joining us and starting new traditions with our school.
