Students are guided through a series of activities to undertake a visual study topic of their choosing, they will study and respond to designers’ works, developing an understanding of their historical, social or cultural contexts. Visual thinking in design is based around the development and formulation of a design brief that specifies parameters for the designer. The cyclic design process, documented in a folio, includes research, analysis, the initiation and development of concepts, the exploration of possibilities, the testing and refining of ideas or concepts, the practising of technical skills, and evaluation. The design outcome is resolved in a final practical design (product, environmental or graphic/visual), with an accompanying practitioner statement.
An A3 sketchbook will be provided.
