Year 11 - Stage 1 - Child Studies

Course Overview

Students will identify and discuss the importance of play in social development of young children, they will then research, plan and create a product or activity to support their development which may include a nutritionally balanced meal or book. Students will investigate and reflect on a contemporary issue related to young childrens’ development. Eg. To what extent is screen time affecting a young child’s health and wellbeing? 

Students will be required to complete up to 5 days work placement in an early childhood setting and will be required to apply for and receive a volunteer Working With Children Check (WWCC) and complete online safety training.
