Curriculum Guide

Year 11 - Stage 1 - Ancient History

Course Overview

In Ancient Studies, students learn about the history, literature, society, and culture of selected ancient civilisations. Students consider the environmental, social, economic, religious, cultural, and aesthetic aspects of societies and explore the ideas and innovations that shape and are shaped by societies. Contemporary societies have a long heritage based on civilisations of the past. The study of ancient and classical cultures, therefore, enables students to explore the universality and diversity of human experience and enhance their own cultural and intercultural understanding.
