Curriculum Guide

Year 10 - Chinese

Course Overview

Students explore a range of text types, including informative digital media texts, opinion pieces and news, narrative fiction and non-fiction, short videos, TV programs and music. They learn to interpret, create, evaluate and perform different types of texts, such as procedural, persuasive and narrative. In speaking, students interact with a range of known and unknown audiences, engaging in discussions about issues and personal interest and developing their ability to speak with confidence.

It is recommended that students purchase a Chinese-English/English-Chinese dictionary. A suitable dictionary for beginners is the Oxford Starter Chinese-English dictionary (approx $35). A more extensive version for those intending to continue at SACE level is the Oxford Concise Chinese-English/English-Chinese dictionary (approx $45).
