This is an introduction to Mandarin Chinese for students wishing to study it as a 2nd language. Students develop linguistic and intercultural understanding skills. They use spoken and written Chinese to interact in a range of familiar contexts, such as to exchange personal information, seek clarification and make arrangements. Students organise ideas using time expressions and create simple informative and imaginative texts for known audiences and purposes. Culturally, they consider the influence of culture on everyday communication.
